About the BVI
Scattered like emeralds across the turquoise Caribbean Sea, the British Virgin Islands are more than just a destination — they are a feeling. Long before luxury yachts and white-sand beaches, these islands were home to the Arawak and Carib peoples, later becoming a haven for European explorers, sailors, and even pirates who once hid among its quiet coves. Today, echoes of that maritime past still live on in every harbor and trade wind.
The BVI is made up of 60 islands and cays, with Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke as its main jewels. Calm waters, steady winds, and short distances between islands have made the BVI one of the top sailing destinations in the world. Here, you can wake up in one anchorage, sail for a few relaxed hours, and spend your afternoon snorkeling coral reefs, exploring hidden beaches, or enjoying fresh seafood in a beachside bar.
Tourism is the heart of the islands, but it remains deeply connected to nature. From the granite boulders of The Baths in Virgin Gorda to the wild flamingo-filled flats of Anegada, every island has its own character. Some offer lively beach bars and music, while others promise complete solitude and star-filled skies.
What truly sets the BVI apart is the way life slows down on the water. Here, sailing is not rushed — it’s a rhythm. The gentle trade winds guide you from island to island, while the sea teaches patience, freedom, and respect for nature. It’s a place where families reconnect, couples find adventure, and sailors — new or experienced — discover why these islands are known as the Sailing Capital of the Caribbean.
In the British Virgin Islands, you don’t just visit… you sail into a story that’s been unfolding for centuries — and with BVI Sailing Coach, you become part of that story from the helm.
